Satellite Imagery Captures Spain's La Palma Volcano Eruptions

Satellite imagery recorded on October 7 shows the continued eruptions on La Palma, Spain, as lava flowed from the Cumbre Vieja volcano.

Maxar Technologies says this imagery collected by the satellite at an angle shows a “dramatic view of both the eruptions as well as the lava flow that is spilling into the Atlantic Ocean.”

Maria Jose Blanco, director of the National Geographic Institute in the Canary Islands, said that weather in the area was preventing the dissipation of ash and sulfur dioxide leading to worsening air quality, El Pais reported.
