Satellite Imagery Depicts Latest Volcanic Eruption on St Vincent

Satellite imagery captured the most recent volcanic activity at St Vincent’s La Soufriere volcano, which exploded again on the morning of April 13.

Activity at the volcano was also captured by scientists monitoring for eruptions at La Soufriere, located in the northern half of St Vincent.

The National Emergency Management Organization of St Vincent and the Grenadines said the April 13 explosion was “not as energetic” as other recent activity, but warned that more eruptions were possible in the coming days.

This footage, built from imagery captured by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and processed by Simon Proud of the UK’s National Centre for Earth Observation (NCEO), shows plumes of ash and smoke rising from the volcano on Tuesday, April 13.
