Catastrophic Flooding in Poland and Czech Republic Seen in Satellite Imagery
Newly released satellite imagery shows the extent of recent deadly flooding in parts of central Europe.
Maxar released satellite imagery showing the towns of Stronie Slaskie and Glucholazy in Poland, and of Mikulovice, Kravare and Ostrava in the Czech Republic, during the historic flooding, and compared it to older imagery showing what the towns usually look like.
“Multiple cities and towns have suffered considerable flood damage caused by heavy rainfall across Central and Eastern Europe,” Maxar said.
At least 21 people were killed in the flooding, according to news reports, including seven in Romania, six killed in Poland, five in Austria, and three in the Czech Republic. Credit: Maxar via Storyful
