Satellite Images Show Russian Military Activity as Biden to 'Underscore' Ukraine Concerns With Putin

Satellite images released on December 6 show Russian military activity at locations including Crimea as US President Joe Biden was set to raise concerns in a video call with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

US intelligence has warned that Russia is planning a “massive military offensive” involving 175,000 troops, according to the Washington Post.

Maxar Technologies said these images were collected over the past month, and they show “Russian tactical battle groups containing troops and ground forces equipment.”

The sites seen in the images include Pogonovo and Yelnya in Russia, and Novoozernoye in Crimea.

The White House said Biden would be holding a call with Putin on December 7. The president would “underscore US concerns with Russian military activities on the border with Ukraine and reaffirm the United States’ support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine,” a White House statement said.
