Sausage and Cider Festival is set for sizzling return to Newcastle
The winning combination of bangers and booze is back on the menu with news of a popular festival's return to Newcastle.
The Sausage and Cider Festival will be making a comeback in the city in February, bringing another opportunity to sample a variety of flavours in both booze and food. And its organisers are inviting people to sign up now for a chance to take advantage of a Black Friday deal offering 50% off the entry price.
The 18-plus event will take place on February 8 at Newcastle Civic Centre, which has hosted it in previous years, and alongside more than 25 ciders will be 12-plus flavours of sausage - including unusual varieties such as maple and chilli plus vegetarian and cheese - out to whet the appetite. Adding to the atmosphere at the feast will be live bands, including local names and tribute acts, as well as DJ sets.

Lee Fudge, the festival's marketing manager, said: "This is a feel-good event with great music from headliners still to be announced and a huge variety of sausage and cider flavours.” Craft beer, spirits, wine, cocktails and soft drinks will be on sale too during one five-hour session this year - rather than the choice of two available to book in previous years - and this will run from noon.
The festival's food competitions will be back too, with a world record sausage-eating attempt taking place as well as a red hot chilli peppers eating challenge. Tickets to attend are available from £15 and there's an opportunity to sign up now - see here - for access to the 50% off Black Friday tickets.
