Savage weapon attack in Newton Abbot leaves man in hospital

A man is in hospital with potentially life-changing injuries after a brutal assault in Newton Abbot. Police have confirmed the man, in his 30s, was reportedly assaulted by four people on Sunday.

Detectives are investigating and have appealed for witnesses to contact them. The incident happened in Broadlands Avenue.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed: "Police are investigating a robbery and serious assault on a man in Newton Abbot.

"Officers were called by hospital staff on Tuesday, October 1 to reports of an assault. It was reported that a man had been assaulted by four people between 4.30am and 5.30am on Sunday, September 29 on Broadlands Avenue, Newton Abbot.

"The man, in his 30s, sustained potentially life-changing injuries to his arm, although it is unclear what type of weapon was used.

"He remains in hospital. Police are investigating and asking for any witnesses to contact them. They are keen to hear from anyone who may have captured the incident on their mobile phone, dashcam or CCTV."
