Staff at a Midlothian Domino's pizza takeaway have come 'under siege' from a gang of youths who have also been captured 'kicking the door' of their nearby flat.

Several incidents have reportedly taken place over the last six weeks including youths running up to their home and booting their front door at night.

Local businessman Matin Khan, who owns the flat in question where some members of staff live, recently installed a Ring camera following a spate of incidents. On Tuesday night, September 17, he captured footage of two youths taking it in turns to run across the road and kick the main door.

Matin claims significant damage has already been dealt to the door which had to be repaired, as well as a new lock being installed. Footage captured by staff at Domino's on the nearby Eskbank Road shows two youths being chased out the shop and attempting to hide their faces before crouching behind a bin.

Speaking to Edinburgh Live Matin, who also owns the award-winning restaurants Itihaas andThe Radhuni, said: "Some of the staff live there and some of my staff as well and I think the kids are just doing it randomly.

"They have already caused so much damage. Last week I had to change the lock three times and on Sunday night they kicked the door in so yesterday I installed the CCTV system.

"The worst thing is it's an accident waiting to happen. They will get run over by a car or a bus. I actually nearly hit one of them in my car a few weeks ago when they came running in front of me but luckily I was driving slow.

"It's the same group and has been going on for about six weeks. They used to bang the doors but now they have started kicking. Its very frightening and scary as there are people living there."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We can confirm that we have received two reports of anti-social behaviour in the area of the Buccleuch Street in the last few days and we will be speaking to the reporter to gather more information."

Domino's was approached for comment.
