Scarlett Moffatt breaks silence after 'ghosting' clothing boutique: 'This is a misunderstanding'

Scarlett Moffatt has defended herself against claims that she purposefully ‘ghosted’ an online clothing boutique after it sent her a custom £150 skirt to promote.

The former Gogglebox star had allegedly begged MySuitcase Boutique owner Michaela Liu for a pink version of the item, voicing plans to wear it on the first ever Virgin Atlantic Pride flight to New York on 28 June.

But when Moffatt failed to post any photographs of her in the skirt, Liu sent the TV personality a number of direct messages asking whether she’d return it if she didn’t intend to wear it again.

In an initial report by the Mail Online, Liu went on to say that Moffatt blocked her on social media after deleting four responses. She also deleted her Twitter account.

“This is a misunderstanding,” Moffatt explained on her Instagram Story, as she admitted she’d only just seen the article on 18 July. “I've been super busy and intended to wear the MySuitcase Boutique, but instead will be returning the skirt.”

“Also I get so busy and bombarded with admin if anyone needs to message me just DM me. I'll start and sort my messages and not be so c**p at admin.

“I don't Google my name and knew none of this until today. Massive apologies to MySuitcase Boutique.”

The former I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! winner also suggested that deactivating her Twitter page had “nothing to do with this incident.”

“Side note haven't used Twitter in 7 month apart from links to insta that's why I deleted it lol!!”

Now, it seems like the furore has been smoothed out, with Liu taking to the MySuitcase Boutique’s Instagram page to say that she has accepted Moffatt’s apology and believes it’s “completely genuine.”

“Please can I ask that you stop trolling and the hate mail towards her,” the 27-year-old continued. “The post was never intended to cause any nastiness, purely to attempt to get a response from her.

“Now that we have spoke, we have agreed for the skirt to be sent back.”
