Scary thing about Newcastle's win at Wolves after dressing room confession and Tindall goes wild

Newcastle United players were open and honest about their performance against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.

To a man, they admitted they were nowhere near their best and that things can be done "much better" in future encounters in the Premier League. On his return from suspension, Fabian Schar said: "At half-time said we needed to perform better.

"We can play a lot better. At the moment it is great that we get the results and we need to be more consistent throughout the game. We want to go to the next level."

It was a day in which Newcastle players got the chance to soak up the atmosphere a little more than usual as 3,000 lined up along the touchline in the Steve Bull Stand. It is an opportunity to witness an away game from a different vantage point for many and they will have watched Eddie Howe's team put in the hard yards at Molineux.

It has to be said that Newcastle have been far from their best in all four of their Premier League games so far yet find themselves unbeaten. It is scary when you wonder what they could do once the team starts gelling like a couple of seasons ago.

Jason Tindall has extra reason to celebrate Harvey Barnes' wonder strike

As Harvey Barnes curled home to score the winner against Wolves, both Tindall and Howe leapt into the air with delight. Tindall had been issued with a yellow card just moments earlier for straying outside the technical area!

And it felt like he was in danger for a second yellow when celebrating in crazy manner with other members of the bench. Howe's period of pandemonium was brief with the head coach quickly showing restraint and refusing to get swept away with the celebrations.

In fact he pulled himself away from the other jubilant coaching members and started to reassess things at 2-1 up with 10 minutes left. Thankfully, whatever he uttered into the ears of his players sunk in and Newcastle held on for what could be deemed one of the biggest away wins of the campaign if United can kick on from this.

Kieran Trippier's quiet role as veteran defender plays a big part

The former England defender was spoken about as a starter by some fans before the game but had to settle for a place on the bench. Trippier went on with the team 1-0 down but came off a winner after calming the team down and showing leadership once again.

That was the case during the 1-1 draw at AFC Bournemouth as he underlined why Howe is desperate to keep him. He still has two years left on his current deal and showed why he is valued so highly by the staff.

Trippier had just 18 touches and made 11 passes but his on-field influence was there for all to see. And it will be interesting to see the way Howe uses him moving forward.
