Yahoo News Schitt's Creek's Annie Murphy joins The Good Wife's Christine Baranski in Praise Petey
Youth-focused channel Freeform has ordered an animated comedy series called Praise Petey, featuring Schitt's Creek star Annie Murphy and The Good Wife star Christine Baranski.
The show will follow Petey, voiced by Murphy, a New York City 'It' girl whose life crashes around her. She is then moved to modernise her father's small-town cult, giving her a new direction in life.
Baranski will be voicing White, Petey's mother. She is a Manhattan society woman, working as a high-profile magazine editor, and a perfectionist who has never tasted ketchup.

The show has tapped John Cho to play Bandit, a potential love interest for Petey, while The Flash's Kiersey Clemons will voice Eliza, a local bartender and reluctant friend to Petey. Amy Hill and Stephen Root will also be appearing in the show, playing Bandit's mum and Pete's dad respectively.
Praise Petey will begin production in early 2022, written by Anna Drezen, and executive produced by Monica Padrick, Mike Judge, and Greg Daniels.
Dezen said: "I can't believe I get to make this show with so many funny and smart people. Getting to work with Monica, Bandera Entertainment, Freeform, [animator] ShadowMachine, 20th Television Animation and this amazing cast has been a blast and dream – a bleam. This rules."

Jamila Hunter, executive vice-president of Programming and Development at Freefrom, told Deadline: "It's kind of the A-team. It was a spec script that we bought and Annie Murphy got attached early on. We've had such a great opportunity to attract talent because Anna [Drezen] is so incredibly funny and smart. Animation has a great opportunity to be funny and thought-provoking. That's what we love about it."
This is not the only animated project in development at Freeform, as the channel is increasingly moving towards that space.
Murphy is best known for playing Alexis Rose on Schitt's Creek, while Baranski has appeared in Mamma Mia, The Good Wife, and The Good Fight.
Praise Petey will air on Freeform.
