School ‘Deleted Picture Of Girl With Down’s Syndrome From Yearbook After Parents Said It Ruined Album‘

A school in Russia reportedly removed a picture of a young girl with Down’s syndrome from its yearbook after other parents complained that she “ruined” the album.

The image of Masha, who is just 7-years-old, is said to have been edited out of the glossy keepsake, reports the Moscow Times.

Olga Sinayeva, who has a child who studies at the unnamed Moscow school, made the claims in a Facebook post.

She alleged that the school had this week asked parents to return the newly-printed class photo album.

And she claimed that at least five parents of students had demanded their offspring be moved to other classes so they didn’t have to sit with the youngster.

“The album is all so very pompously glossy, with all kinds of poetry about school, friendship and mutual understanding, with pages separated by parchment paper,” she wrote.

“The reason why children were asked to return this album is simple: Many parents can’t stand the photograph of the girl, Masha, who has Down syndrome, the daughter of the homeroom teacher, next to their children,” she added.

Masha is reportedly not actually a student at the school, but accompanies her teacher mother to class while she educates fourth-graders.

“The mom is teaching, Masha is sitting quietly … [she] doesn’t get in anybody’s way,” said Sinayeva.

“Masha practically lives in this class, tries to interact, hugs everyone, she is kind and defenseless, but children shrink away from her,” she added.

Authorities have not commented on the allegations.
