A heartfelt tribute has been paid to the Scots schoolboy who was found dead in woodlands.

The boy, named as Jordan, has been described by his head teacher as 'loyal and fun-loving' after the tragic discovery in Lesmahagow on Sunday, June 2 at around 6:50pm.

Emergency services scrambled to a wooded area at Abbeygreen Road in the town but sadly, the child was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death but a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.

The boy was a pupil at Woodpark Primary School, only yards away from the wooded area at Abbeygreen Road, where Jordan was found.

Debbie MacKenna, Head Teacher at Woodpark Primary School, said: “We are all deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic death of Jordan, who was a valued member of our school community.

“Jordan was an energetic, fun-loving boy who was loyal to his friends and family, and was loved by us all. His radiant smile, his singing and dancing and his sense of humour lit up our school.

“We keep Jordan’s family and friends very much in our thoughts and prayers, and we will continue to support our school community at this very sad time.”

A letter was sent out to parents and guardians at the school yesterday informing of the tragedy.

It is believed to have promised to support children in the school directly affected by the death, including providing pyschological services.

Further tributes were paid online to Jordan this morning.

Natalya Lydia said: "My heart cannot take anymore. Wee Jordan, forever 9. You were the most sweetest, loving young man."

Angie Blkwood said: "Unimaginable pain for the family, god bless you little one. You had your whole life ahead of you, RIEP."

Janice Shaw added: "My wee grandson's pal. So very sad, safe in the arms of Jesus, wee man. Condolences to all his family & friends."

“Emergency services attended but the 9-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene.
