A parent on the school run has been left without a car after police swooped. The driver was stopped in Stafford today (September 16) after officers noticed the children did not have their seatbelts on.

Checks also revealed that the motorist only had a provisional licence. As a result, the vehicle was seized.

The incident came on the same day a driver in Stoke-on-Trent had their Mercedes confiscated after they too only had a provisional licence.

Sharing details of the incident on X, formerly Twitter, Staffordshire Police Road Policing Unit said: "Driver of the Zafira in @PoliceStafford decided not to buckle the kids up on the school run, also only had a PL. #Seize. The Mercedes driver also only had a PL in @Policingstoke and we #Seized that also. Behaviour like this ended with fines & points!"
