Many consider Friday the 13th the unluckiest day on the calendar, but for high school sweethearts Christine and Morris Davidson it was the perfect day to tie the knot.

The Middlesbrough pair said 'I do' 50 years ago on Friday, September 13 at Grove Hill Methodist Church and were even presented with a lucky horseshoe on the day. Christine, 69, and Morris, 70, met when they were put in the same class at school and have been inseparable every since.

Mum Christine studied at Kirby Grammar School while Morris went to Acklam Hall Grammar School. However, the schools merged when they were about 13-year-old - and the rest is history.

The mum-of-three said: "We've known each other a long time, we met at school and we're best friends. We do a lot together and try and laugh everyday.

"I don't think there's a secret to a happy marriage I think everybody has to find their own way through life."

The pair have three children Iain, Julie and Paula and three grandchildren, Luke, Leah and Luca. They celebrated the special anniversary at the Lion Inn at Blakey Ridge, North Yorkshire, with their loved ones.

"We celebrated with family," Christine explained. "We've got three children and three grandchildren and like to do things together."
