Schoolboy on bike seriously injured in Brierley Hill 'hit-and-run'

A 15-year-old boy was seriously injured after a 'hit-and-run' in Brierley Hill. The teenager was riding a pushbike when he was involved in a collision with a dark-blue Mini Cooper which left the scene, West Midlands Police said.

The crash took place at the junction of Brettell Lane and Hawbush Road at around 2.15pm on Tuesday, September 3. The boy suffered serious injuries but has since been discharged from hospital to recuperate.

West Midlands Police said it has interviewed a man who is suspected of being the car driver - but the force is appealing for any witnesses to come forward. A spokesperson for the force said: "We are appealing for information after boy was seriously injured in a collision involving a bike and a car in Brierley Hill.

"We were called to the junction of Brettell Lane and Hawbush Road, at around 2.15pm on Tuesday 3 September. The 15-year-old boy was on a bike at the time of the collision and sustained serious injuries. He has since been discharged from hospital to recuperate.

"The car, a dark blue Mini Cooper, left the scene but we’ve since identified a man suspected of being the driver. He has been interviewed and is assisting with our investigation.
