Schoolgirl, 16, to face terrorism trial after being 'caught with bomb-making video and instructions on how to build home-made gun'

A schoolgirl is set to face trial on terror charges after allegedly being caught with a bomb-making video and instructions on building a home-made gun with a 3D printer.

The 16-year-old, who cannot be identified because of her age, denies five counts of possessing information likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism on dates in August and September last year.

The girl, who is from Derbyshire, faces trial at Westminster Youth Court on 1 March in front of Chief Magistrate Paul Goldspring.

She has been remanded into local authority accommodation.

One of the charges she faces relates to a bomb-making video and she is also charged with offences related to digital documents.

The girl also denies a further charge of possessing an article in circumstances which give rise to a reasonable suspicion that it was for a purpose connected with the commission, preparation or instigation of an act of terrorism on 22 August last year.

The article is a zip file alleged to contain instructions on how to make a home-made firearm using a 3D printer.
