School's message to parents as man arrested over alleged sex offences
A Liverpool primary school moved to reassure parents after police arrested a man on suspicion of child sex offences. Earlier this week, Holy Name Catholic Primary School in Fazakerley sent a message to parents on its internal communication network telling them the school is "aware of allegations made against a member of the community" associated with the Holy Name Roman Catholic Church.
Merseyside Police confirmed a 38-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity. According to police, he has been conditionally bailed pending further enquiries.
In a message seen by the ECHO, the Holy Name Catholic Primary School told parents the man in question has "never had direct, unsupervised, involvement with any child" from the school. It went on to say that children's safety is the school's "main priority", adding, "whenever we attend a school activity away from school premises, the children are always closely supervised by a member of school staff".

The Archdiocese of Liverpool told the ECHO it is aware of an "external safeguarding issue" involving someone associated with the church. In a statement, it said the Archdiocese has "immediately removed" the individual from all roles within the church, and said the "matter is now with the police, and as such we are unable to comment further".
