Schools Shut After Threats Found In Toilets

Three Seattle area schools will be shut on Friday after a threat was found written in a girls' toilet, authorities have said.

Classes at Juanita High School, Redmond High School and the Futures School are suspended after school administrators found threatening messages at two of the schools.

One of the messages, discovered on a paper towel dispenser in a bathroom at Juanita High School on Tuesday, read: "Don't come to school on 2/5 if you like your life. I'm sorry F."

A second threatening note was found on the wall of a bathroom at Redmond High School on Thursday.

Lake Washington School District superintendent Dr Traci Pierce told KOMO TV: "The safety of our students and staff is of paramount importance.

"Out of an abundance of caution, since we cannot yet determine the credibility of the threat, we have made the difficult decision to close Juanita High School and Redmond High School on Friday 5 February."

District officials said they believe the threats were specific to those campuses and no other schools were affected.

Redmond and Kirkland police departments are investigating the threats.

It was unclear if the threats, which both mentioned Friday, were linked.

All activities at the schools have also been cancelled.

In December, a series of threats saw schools closed in Los Angeles and New Hampshire .
