Science Fiction Fanboy Arrested for Allegedly Creating 3D Printed Guns

A 27-year-old Chinese national charged with using a 3D printer to manufacture illegal firearms says it was just a hobby that got “out of hand”.

The ABC reported that Sicen Sun told a Sydney court the four imitation pistols he was arrested for allegedly creating was simply a result of his love for science fiction.

Sun was arrested on February 28 from a Waverley, NSW home where two 3D printers and several 3D-manufactured Glocks and air pistols were seized. He was charged with firearms-related offences and was granted bail on the condition he surrender both his Australian and Chinese passports.
