Scotch Corner crash: Three people rushed to hospital as drivers urged to avoid area
Three people have been rushed to hospital after a serious crash near Scotch Corner.
Emergency services scrambled to the scene of the two-vehicle crash on the A66 near Greta Bridge after being alerted around 11.30am this morning (Friday, September 20).
After assessing the situation, one person was airlifted to James Cook Hospital while another patient travelled to the hospital by road. A third person was transported to Darlington Memorial Hospital.

Motorists still face delays with drivers being urged to avoid the area as the road still remains closed. There is no indication of when it will reopen again.
Yorkshire Ambulance Service said: "We received an emergency call at 11.29 this morning (September 20) to a road traffic collision on the A66 between Scotch Corner and Greta Bridge, involving two vehicles.
"A number of our resources were dispatched to the scene. One patient has been conveyed to James Cook Hospital by air ambulance. Two patients have also been conveyed to hospital by road – one has been transported to James Cook Hospital, and one to Darlington Memorial Hospital."
