Scotland’s first and only furry convention returning to Glasgow this month
Scotland's first (and according to the organisers, only) convention for furries is coming back to Glasgow this month.
A subculture event which sees people interested in anthropomorphic animal characters come together, the organisers of Scotiacon have been running events since 2011, and say this year will be "bigger and better" than ever.
With over a thousand fans expected to head to the three day event at Glasgow's Crowne Plaza Hotel, which runs from February 7 to 10, it'll see many of those attending dressed as wolves, cats, dogs and even mythical creatures like dragons, and is sure to be a colourful event.

The Anthropomorphic animal characters on show are created by furry fans themselves, and are known as 'fursonas'.
Posting on their website, the team behind the event, which also regularly raises money for animal charities, posted: "In 2025 we will embark on an adventure filled with Magical Mayhem! Once again, we'll return to the Crowne Plaza in Glasgow and we look forward to inviting everyone back to enjoy our biggest celebration of furries and furry culture yet."
This year's theme is “Magical Mayhem” and there will be a fundraising appeal for the animal charity Saving Wildcats, a European partnership project dedicated to Scottish wildcat conservation.
The event will feature an event first, a dance battle, as well as Fursuit Lounges, for people to mingle, a 'barkade', a casino, tarot night, and events for the different species to meet, as well as speed dating and workshops for learning to write 'Furry Erotica' and other fiction.
According to the Sunday Post, the organisers of Scotiacon have drawn up strict rules for the 2025 evetnt.
A code of conduct states the convention welcomes anyone, irrespective of “race, sexual and gender identity, disability and/or other immutable characteristics”.
It then adds that harassment is unacceptable on any grounds – including “characteristics such as the maker of an individual’s fur-suit or the species of someone’s fursona”.
The rules also state weapons can only be used as props for costumes if they are ruled to be "harmless" – and that people in fur-suits are banned in the hotel swimming pool.
