Scotland's 'best country pub' only 30 minutes out of Edinburgh goes up for sale

An award-winning rural Scottish pub has just gone on the market.

The Horseshoe Inn is a renowned pub with rooms in the small Scottish Borders village of Eddleston. It can be reached from Edinburgh in around just 30 minutes by car.

The traditional property features wooden beam ceilings and stone floors. It has been praised by Christie & Co, who are handling the sale, for its "authentic décor".

The inn has received numerous awards, including an AA Rosette, and has received a 4 Gold Star rating by the AA Guide. It was even crowned the "best country pub" in Scotland at the 2019 Scottish Entertainment and Hospitality Awards.

The Horseshoe Inn features eight en-suite guest rooms in a "beautifully restored" Victorian village schoolhouse at its rear. The property also includes a restaurant, a bar that serves up a wide range of whisky and spirits, and a beer garden.

Current owners Iain and Fiona Dempster commented: "We took over the Horseshoe Inn with the firm idea of restoring it to its former glory before bowing out of the trade in Scotland. We are looking to semi-retire, relocate and spend more time with our family."
