Scotland's best spa hotels crowned 'for weekend of wellness' this winter
Scotland's best spa hotels for a "weekend of wellness" have been named.
As we approach the end of autumn and the start of winter, now is the perfect time to book a relaxing staycation. With the festive season being as stressful as it is, it is a good idea to get away from all of the hustle and bustle for a night or two.
Last month, The Telegraph published a list of the top relaxing spa hotel across the UK. The two Scottish destinations singled out were The Gleneagles Hotel and The Pavilions and Fletchers Cottage Spa.

Gleneagles is a famous five-star luxury hotel situated near Auchterarder in Perthshire, situated within 850 acres of picturesque grounds. Dating back to 1924, it is home to three championship golf courses and the only restaurant in Scotland to have two Michelin stars.
The spa at The Gleneagles Hotel was singled out by The Telegraph for its facilities and treatments. It features a thermal suite and a beauty lodge, as well as various "superb relaxation areas".
Among the treatments on offer at the hotel are deep tissue massages, hot stone massages, and a 'mud and steam ritual'. Gleneagles also has two indoor pools and an outdoor thermal pool.
The Telegraph wrote: "The spa – a haven of sybaritic delights with an added health dimension – offers complementary and alternative therapies delivered by top-notch practitioners. For all-over wellbeing, indulge in one of the signature Glen Spa therapies, Dr Barbara Sturm facials or Tata Harper treatments."
Elsewhere, The Pavilions and Fletchers Cottage Spa is situated within Archerfield House in East Lothian. It has both a day spa and a residential spa that offer a wide range of rejuvenating treatments.
Those visiting Archerfield House can enjoy body massages, facials, 'thermal experiences', and more. It also offers 'alternative therapies' such as reiki and reflexology.
The Telegraph commented: "Inside, a log burner keeps things cosy while you sink into pale sofas sipping a glass of sherry, champagne or a fresh smoothie, or indulge in tea and cakes. No swimming pool but you won’t miss it with a salt steam room and lavender sauna as a warming prelude to the very thorough treatments."
Other hotels included on The Telegraph's roundup are Grantley Hall in Yorkshire and Galgorm Resort & Spa in Northern Ireland. The full list of the 20 best UK spa hotels for a weekend of wellness can be found on The Telegraph website.
