Four restaurants in Scotland have been crowned among the best in the world.

Earlier this week, La Liste revealed its list of the top 1,000 restaurants across the globe. The prestigious list is based on thousands of publications, hundreds of guidebooks, and millions of online reviews.

Out of the 1,000 restaurants around the world celebrated, four Scottish spots were honoured. Number One, The Kitchin, Restaurant Martin Wishart, and Cail Bruich are all included on the list.

Number One is based at the renowned Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh. Headed by chef Mathew Sherry, the restaurant has four AA Rosettes and has been included on the Michelin Guide.

The restaurant's dishes are made using seasonal ingredients that are "carefully sourced from an exceptional list of trusted suppliers". Fusing Scottish cuisine with modern flair, Number One's seven-course menu is priced at £125 per person.

Restaurant manager Emma Hemy commented: "We’re honoured to be celebrated not just as one of the best restaurants in Scotland, but also the world. Our goal is to deliver world-class Scottish hospitality - and it’s fantastic to be recognised for doing just that."

The second Scots restaurant featured on the list is Michelin-starred The Kitchin, which is located in a stylish converted whisky warehouse in Leith. Serving up contemporary Scottish food, highlights of the menu include roasted loin of Hopetoun Estate roe deer, peppered belly of roasted Devon blue fin tuna, and barbequed Scrabster John Dory.

Also situated in Edinburgh, Restaurant Martin Wishart is a Michelin-starred venue that specialises in French cooking using seasonal Scottish produce. Situated along the shore overlooking the Water of Leith, its dishes include ravioli of partridge, roast loin of roe deer, and mackerel ceviche.

Meanwhile, the final Scottish restaurant to be included on La Liste's roundup is Cail Bruich in Glasgow. The fine-dining restaurant features a relaxed and contemporary setting, while it makes use of local and sustainable ingredients.

Among the dishes included on its five-course tasting menu are Peterhead monkfish, hen of the woods mushroom, and Creedy Carver duck. The restaurant also offers a Festive Lunch Menu in December including hand-dived Orkney scallop, stone bass, and more.

The full list of the 1,000 restaurants included on the list can be found on the La Liste website.
