Scotland's 'most entertaining' cities crowned this winter - see the full list

Scotland's "most entertaining" cities have been named ahead of the start of winter.

As we approach the end of the year, we are about to enter Christmas party season. People all over Scotland will already be planning where to head for a festive night out.

New research from Fruityslots.com has ranked the most entertaining cities across the UK based on factors such as the number of things to do, the number of restaurants, and the average cost of a meal. Coming out on top for Scotland is Glasgow.

According to the experts, Scotland's largest city is the most entertaining city in the whole of the UK. Glasgow was found to have an "impressive" 96 things to do, as well as offering 212 walking trails.

The study also revealed that there are a "staggering" 2,282 restaurant options in the city. However, the price of a three-course meal is above average at £68.

FruitySlots.com also singled out Glasgow's largest stadium, Celtic Park, which has a seating capacity of 60,411. Other top attractions in the city include the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, the Riverside Museum of Transport and Travel, and Pollok Country Park.

Elsewhere, Edinburgh placed second on the list of the UK's most entertaining cities. According to the research, the Scottish capital has 109 things to do.

For food lovers, Edinburgh offers an "impressive" selection of 1,848 restaurants, however a three-course meal for two reportedly costs £75 — the second most expensive in the UK.

Like Glasgow, the experts named Murrayfield Stadium in particular as a highlight of the city. Elsewhere, it is home to a huge variety of museums, theatres, and parks to visit.

Meanwhile, following behind at number five on the UK-wide list is Aberdeen. While it offers the lowest number of things to do of any city in the UK according to the experts, with just 32 in total, it also has the most affordable food — with a three-course meal for two costing an average of £60.

Rounding out the top five most entertaining cities in the UK are Manchester and Belfast, placing third and fourth respectively. Other destinations to appear on the list include Leeds and Norwich.
