Scotland's 'whisky island' hiring couple with £70,000 salary and free accommodation
An estate on Scotland's 'whisky island' is currently looking to hire a couple, with free accommodation provided.
The Isle of Islay is fifth-biggest Scottish island and the most southern of the Inner Hebrides. The island is known for its world-famous whisky distilleries, as well as its picturesque beaches, delicious seafood, and incredible wildlife.
At the moment, a private estate on Islay is seeking a live-in couple at a joint salary of up to £70,000. The roles, a housekeeper and a gardener, will involve five days of work per week.

The housekeeper will be responsible for managing other members of staff and the overall cleanliness of the main property. Other tasks will include laundry and ironing, running errands, shopping for household supplies, and occasional cooking.
Meanwhile, the groundsman will look after the garden including planting, pruning, hedge trimming, and lawn care. They will also be required to drive guests, clean cars, and generally keep the outside area of the property clean and tidy.
Both candidates must be able to drive, and must be comfortable around dogs. They must also be willing to be flexible with their hours "when the estate is busy with guests".
Included with the jobs is three-bedroom accommodation on the estate grounds. As well as two double and one single bedroom, the property is comprised of a lounge, kitchen, family bathroom, and a porch.
The accommodation will be rent-free, with council tax paid by the employer, while utility bills will be the responsibility of the successful applicants. Dogs are also accepted "within reason" according to the job listing.
When you are not working, there is plenty to get up to around Islay. As well as iconic distilleries like Lagavulin and Laphroaig, settlements such as Bowmore and Port Ellen are home to a variety of shops, cafés, and restaurants.
The job listing states: "Greycoat Lumley's client are seeking a Couple for their Private Estate on the Isle of Islay, Inner Hebrides Islands, off the West Coast of Scotland. The location has flight, ferry and road links, has a sense of local community and is a wonderful place to live surrounded by stunning scenery.
"The property will be used for a mixture of private use, weddings, events and traditional exclusive use lettings."
