Scots blind company's hilarious Gen Z slang video goes viral on TikTok - here's the story behind it
A family-run blinds company in Ayrshire has gone hugely viral on TikTok after they shared a video featuring company owner Adam Moonie, 79.
The very funny one minute clip uploaded by Ayrshire Blinds in Irvine is captioned "letting the Gen Z colleague write the marketing script" and has had over two million views at the time of writing.
Ayrshire Blinds has also received thousands of comments and messages from all over the world - including several marriage proposals for Mr Moonie, an engineer by trade who went into the blinds business over 30 years ago.

The video is packed with iconic Gen Z slang and starts with Mr Moonie saying, "we hope you've enjoyed your brat girl summer, besties," he then asks: "Are you fed up with your fugly blinds? We understood the assignment. Say less."
Other amazing phrases include, "these fabrics are very demure, very mindful. So much rizz." It ends with Mr Moonie saying: "Ayrshire Blinds is the goat, and all at affordable prices. No cap."
To say people loved the video is a bit of an understatement. People have flooded the comment section with thousands of compliments, with one person saying: "Every teenager in the west of Scotland telling their parents where to go for their next blind haul. You just read the market perfectly king."
Another added: "We're in Stevenston and actually need blinds. We'll be coming here," to which Ayrshire Blinds hilariously replied: "This is the main character energy we're looking for."
Mr Moonie's daughter Claire explained to the Daily Record how the viral video came about: "We have been working with Bold Mango Media for some time," she said. "They have been creating videos for a while now, showing off the work we do in peoples’ homes, however this was one they wanted to do in house - though we took a bit of convincing!
She explained that her dad "took the most convincing" but he finally came around to the idea. "At first he thought that it wasn't something he should do as he isn't from that generation," she explained.
"However, obviously it's all in the delivery and it has to be an older person saying it all. He didn't really understand what he was saying at the time, but now he does. He's down with the spiel."
When asked how he's reacted to going viral, she replied: "I think he's been quite taken aback by it and didn't realise how influential he was going to become!"
As well as marriage proposals for Mr Moonie in the comments, Claire explained how they've had messages from people from all around the world, "Australia, Ghana, Finland - we've been in everyone's mailboxes!"
The video has also been commented on by big name brands on TikTok, including Asda and Heinz, with Claire joking she might "rent her dad out" to them for a fee.
"We're just very grateful for all of the love coming from all across the world. We have a showroom, we're super friendly. We'd love you to come in and meet us, meet my dad and - ideally - buy some blinds!"
Slay, queen.
