A Scots bride and groom ditched their wedding guests - to go and enjoy a Greggs. Louise and Connor Clark tied the knot at a registry office in Glasgow.

And after last month's ceremony they headed to their 'favourite spot' to enjoy a snack together and savour some alone time away from their guests.

Friends and family 'had no idea' Greggs superfans Louise, 27, and Connor, 28, had visited the bakery for their 'unconventional wedding breakfast' until they re-joined them at the pub half an hour later.

While enjoying their free 'Mr and Mrs' doughnuts and cold drinks in the Greggs in Glasgow's Kelvinbridge area, the couple decided to have a photoshoot in the store and were 'blown away' by the results.

And unlike other loved-up couples, the bride says her favourite snap of her August 3, 2024 big day is one of her devouring a sprinkled ring doughnut in her dress on her own.

Taking to TikTok, the mum-of-one shared the pictures in a post captioned 'when you love Greggs so much you go in on your wedding day', which has now gone viral with more than 20,000 views.

Many users branded the pair 'iconic' in the comments for their untraditional idea. The popular food chain is becoming a favourite amongst celebrities.

Singer, Olly Murs threw a Greggs-inspired baby shower for his wife and most recently, reality TV star Vicky Pattison holding a Greggs-inspired wedding reception.

Louise, a merchandiser who lives in Glasgow, said: "It was really special. It was unexpected but just a huge part of the day and something I'll remember forever.

"We thought we'd sit outside and take in the scenery. I knew it would be really good pictures because we love Greggs so much. Because we were having dinner I thought I wouldn't get anything to eat.

"The staff gave us free 'Mr and Mrs' doughnuts while we sat outside. So many came up to us and said 'that's such a nice idea, enjoy your day'.

"The staff were amazing and made it really special. One of them said 'can I hold your veil?' I didn't think these pictures would be as good as they were. It was just the right thing.

"When I got the photos I was blown away, they were actually my favourite pictures. Especially the one of me eating the doughnut. The day was so chaotic and hectic.

"Because we were getting pictures and it was non-stop, it was really nice to just sit down outside Greggs and relax. It was really nice just me and my husband."

The couple revealed their 33 guests were left puzzled as to their whereabouts, but re-joined them at 4pm in time for their wedding dinner.

Louise said: "Our guests had no idea we'd gone to Greggs. They didn't come to Greggs with us. I think they went to the pub. My husband and I shared one doughnut because we knew we were going for food so I brought the other doughnut with me.

"They said 'no way, you did not go to Greggs. That is so you'. They were probably waiting around thinking 'where are they? There's no chance they went to Greggs'."

The parents, who have been together for 13 years and met when they were aged 14 at school, revealed their 'fondest memories' were going on dates at Greggs and that they've kept up the 'tradition'.

Lousie said: "We absolutely love going to Greggs. We've been together since we were in high school. When you're that age you don't have a lot of money.

"One of my fondest memories of the earliest dating stages was sitting in one of the shopping malls in Glasgow with a Greggs. That was one of our early dates.

"We couldn't afford anything else. We wanted to keep up the tradition. It's definitely a regular occurrence in our family." The newlyweds want to encourage others to similarly visit their 'favourite spots' on their wedding day.

Louise said: "I recommend other newlyweds to do it. Vicky Patterson had the truck the other day, what a great idea. If someone has something that's one of their favourite spots and they go there, you'll never forget it.

"Especially if you have a photographer. It's just so memorable and time for you guys." Many users praised the pair's decision to visit Greggs during their wedding day.

One user said: "Iconic." Another user said: "Looks like the best day." A third user said: "Such an icon for that." A fourth user said: "The Greggs I work at is opposite a church, we've had a bride and groom in before."
