Scots girl, 7, dies in sleep after lifelong health battle as tributes pour in for 'little warrior'

The parents of a brave young Scots girl have been left heartbroken after she died in her sleep just a month on from her seventh birthday. Marley Mitchell Jackson, from Paisley, passed away following a lifelong health battle on Saturday, August 10.

She was living with the rare CACNA1E disease - a severe neurodevelopmental disorder - and had severe epilepsy and type 2 respiratory failure. Due to her illness, she couldn't hold her head up or sit without being supported.

Following Marley's death, tributes have flooded in for the "little warrior" who was previously a pupil at Riverbrae School. Marley leaves behind her heartbroken parents, Amanda Mitchell and Edward Jackson, a brother and a wider family who doted on her, reports Glasgow Live.

The wee girl, who had only just celebrated her birthday on July 12, was known by others for not letting her illness stop her from "doing everything she loved", which included playing with her pet dogs and cat.

Paying tribute, her auntie Ashleigh-Louise Jackson said: "Marley was the most amazing wee soul. She loved spending time with her family, chilling at her pond and doing messy play. Her dogs and cat were her best friends.

"Marley loved spending time at Robin House and school, she was very unhappy when we had to take her out of school for her best interest due to respiratory problems - as she was prone to picking up illnesses and viral infections. Her mum and dad made school at home by doing messy play and activities with her daily."

The family has thanked Robin House, a service provided by Children's Hospices Across Scotland, and staff at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for supporting Marley throughout her short-life.

Ashleigh-Louise continued: "Marley is going to be sadly missed by everyone. She was so bubbly, always full of smiles and a wee diva at times but we wouldn’t have changed her for the world.

"She was our little warrior with a sassy attitude. Forever seven, our baby girl Marley Mitchell Jackson. We love you forever and always princess."

A GoFundMe page has been created to help give Marley a special send-off. Support the appeal here.
