Scots granny catches creepy intruder prowling in Edinburgh garden

An Edinburgh gran was horrified to discover a creepy intruder prowling in her garden.

Linda Tarbet, from Chesser, realised someone hade made off with her garden tools when her daughter came into her bedroom to ask if she had loaned someone their lawnmower.

Linda told her 21-year-old daughter she had no idea what she was talking about but was shocked to find it missing on July 4.

Linda's neighbour had warned her of a man 'hanging about' the area and looking into the back garden 'a couple of weeks before the alleged theft occurred.

Speaking to Edinburgh Live, she said: "It was around 6.50am on July 4 and my daughter came in asking if I had loaned the lawn mower to anyone. I said, 'no of course I haven't'.

"Well then she told me and said that someone was taking it. She saw him put it in the back of his motor. He had it outside. He had taken the lawn mower, three hedge trimmers and a wood chipper.

"They were all my tools. I kept all of these things in the garden, I live in a rental property and I can't just build a shed. We checked our ring camera and we saw him come into our garden and take it all."

Linda added: "I heard he had gone round to someone else's on the street too.

"I've never spoken to the man, he was caught hanging about a while ago and I noticed a part of my fence had gone missing earlier."

Linda has had to fork out £130 for a new lawnmower but said she hasn't replaced the other tools.

"I keep the new lawn mower and the strimmer inside and next to the stairs now. But it really gets in the way and we can't get my grandson's buggy through," She added.

"If he wanted them for scrap metal, he could have asked, but just to go into someone's garden and take them - it isn't right."

Police Scotland has been approached for comment.
