Scots teen in critical condition after Glasgow park disturbance as boy, 13, arrested

A teenager is fighting for his life following an incident in a Glasgow park.

Emergency services raced to Greenfield Park at Erskbank Street, near Shettleston in the east end of the city, following reports of a 'disturbance' at around 8.15pm on Friday.

Ambulance crews attended and a 16-year-old was found seriously injured. He was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment where medics describe his condition as critical.

A 13-year-old boy was also taken to hospital for treatment. He has since been arrested in connection with the incident.

Officers say their enquiries into the incident remain ongoing and a significant police presence will remain in the area.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Around 8.15pm on Friday, May 31, 2024, we were called to a report of a disturbance in the Cranhill area of Glasgow.

"Emergency services attended Greenfield Park in Erskbank Street and found a 16-year-old male seriously injured. He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where medical staff describe his condition as critical.

“A 13-year-old male youth was also taken to hospital for treatment. He has been arrested in connection with the incident.

“Enquiries are ongoing and there will continue to be a significant police presence in the area while officers carry out an investigation. Anyone with concerns or information can approach these officers or contact Police Scotland on 101.”
