A Scottish whisky distillery has been named as offering the best tours in the world.
The winners of the 2024 World Travel Awards were recently unveiled. The global awards celebrate excellence across all key sectors of the travel, tourism, and hospitality industries.
Among the winners at the World Travel Awards was The Singleton of Glen Ord Distillery on the edge of the Black Isle in the Highlands. The distillery won the World's Leading Whisky Distillery Tour 2024 prize, beating out distilleries in countries such as Japan and the United States.

The Singleton of Glen Ord Distillery, which is situated 15 miles west of Inverness, is the only remaining single malt scotch whisky distillery on the Black Isle. It produces 12-year-old, 15-year-old, and 18-year-old single malts.
The distillery, which is rated five stars by the Scottish Tourist Board, offers a range of experiences. Its tours are catered toward a range of tastes and levels of knowledge, from novices to connoisseurs.
Among the tours offered is the £22 Singleton Distillery Tour, which "focuses on the art of whisky-making and the craft of distilling". It takes visitors on a deep dive into the distillery's signature ‘Slow Craft’ process, and ends with a tasting of three unique expressions paired with a macaron.
Meanwhile, The Singleton of Glen Ord Distillery also offers a £250 Malt to Cask Tour. The "ultimate" tour offers a behind-the-scenes look at the distillery, and includes a tutored tasting of "unique and rare expressions" from the Singleton range.
There is also a Singleton Craft and Cocktails Tour that is priced at £22. As well as the tour itself, guests will get the chance to sample two "perfectly balanced cocktails" and attend a class where they will learn how to create them at home.
Brand home manager at The Singleton of Glen Ord Distillery Leigh Aitken commented: "Being crowned the World’s Leading Whisky Distillery Tour is a moment we will never forget. Scotland is home to so many fabulous whisky experiences so to be awarded this accolade is truly an honour."
She continued: "Our team work exceptionally hard to give guests the best possible experience. Whether it’s trying exclusive and rare whiskies, listening to live music sessions at our Singleton Sessions, or enjoying the wonderful stories associated with The Singleton history, our visitors always leave with plenty of memories and a strong desire to return."
Elsewhere, Scotland's Glenfiddich Distillery and The Glenlivet were also nominated for the World's Leading Whisky Distillery Tour award. Other nominees included Irish distilleries Teeling Whiskey Distillery, Tullamore D.E.W. Distillery, Pearse Lyons Distillery, and Jameson Distillery Bow St.
