Scream spoilers follow
Scream star David Arquette has teased a big Ghostface twist in the next movie.
The actor plays Woodsboro Sheriff Dewey Riley in the iconic horror franchise, which will return for its fifth outing next year.
Speaking recently, Arquette revealed there are some "great things" about the infamous killer in the fifth iteration of the Scream franchise, and teased that Ghostface will be back with a few extra tricks in store.
"There's some great things about Ghostface and his costume," he told Yahoo! Movies.
"There's more technological advances you can use now, and the fabric we have in this one is probably a little more advanced than the fabric they had when we first did it.
"I'm really excited for it – and for the fans."
Could Arquette's use of the male pronoun also indicate the killer this time around is male-identifying?
"It was tough to broach this role," Arquette said of returning to work on Scream without Craven.
"We all have a deep love for Wes so it was really important we all learned where Matt and Tyler were coming from. Wes inspired them to be filmmakers. They really did honour his work and I think they did a great job. We fell right back into it, and it felt elevated."
Scream will hit cinemas in January 2022.
