'Screams' heard after woman tragically killed in Plymouth
A shop worker said she "heard screams" not long after a fatal attack in Plymouth on Wednesday night (January 22), with people saying to "call an ambulance".
Police were called to West Hoe Road at 8.55pm after a woman was attacked and left seriously injured, and later died of her injuries at Derriford Hospital. A murder suspect has since been arrested.
Not long after the assault, a member of staff working in the Central Convenience store on the corner of West Hoe Road and Walker Terrace reported hearing screams outside and heard people crying: "Call an ambulance".

David Badham, who runs the Central Convenience corner shop, said: "I had a member of staff working and she said she heard screams. She obviously then popped her head out of the door to see what was going on, to hear people saying: ‘Call an ambulance’.
Multiple police cars and ambulances were later spotted parked on West Hoe Road late on Wednesday night, close to a post office and the West Hoe pub.
Throughout today (Thursday), many roads around Plymouth have been cordoned off, with a large police presence across the city. Forensic teams have been seen sweeping various areas.
