Seafood, steak and much more when Tom Browns reopens as adults-only restaurant in Gunthorpe
Spring 2025 has been announced as the reopening date of popular restaurant Tom Browns under new ownership. A "culinary transformation" will redefine the Gunthorpe restaurant - together with a nearby pub.
Nottingham talent Hira Thakur has become the executive head chef at Tom Browns, along with the Old Vol in Caythorpe and the Reddington Pub Company's latest acquisition, The Anchor pub in Gunthorpe, with the aim of turning them into gastronomic destinations.
Tom Browns was family-run for nearly 40 years before a buyout by the London-based RedCat Pub Company after the pandemic, in 2022. But now it's back in local hands with Nottinghamshire businessman Sean Reddington the founder of Reddington Pub Company.
It will become an adults-only restaurant, bringing affordable luxury with high-end dining, live music and entertainment, and an atmosphere built for those looking to dine in style. Diners will be able to expect a wide range of seafood including lobster, langoustines and lemon sole along with steak, plus a sophisticated wine bar, with freshly made sushi and oysters.
The Anchor, an historic pub dating back to 1860, will relaunch with a new twist. Chefs will be bringing exceptional quality to the pub dining experience, while offering a homely, welcoming feel. As well as the day-to-day business, the pub, in Main Street, will be promoting itself as a venue for private events such as weddings, celebrations and corporate gatherings.
It marks a return for Hira, who grew up in a Himalayan village, having previously worked at the Old Vol before relocating to Nottingham fine dining restaurant Cleaver & Wake.
The pub chain also operates The Reindeer in Hoveringham, the first pub in Nottinghamshire to be awarded the Michelin Guide's prestigious Bib Gourmand that stands for quality food without the hefty price tag.
