Search Continues as Death Toll Rises After Guatemala Flood Tragedy
Search operations entered their third day on the outskirts of Guatemala City, Guatemala, on Wednesday, September 27, after the Vacas river overflowed and killed several people as it washed away homes in the riverbed settlement of Dios es Fiel.
This footage from the municipal fire service shows crews searching through debris and water and recovering the bodies of victims over Tuesday and into Wednesday morning.
By Wednesday afternoon, the bodies of seven people had been found and another 11 people remained missing, according to the country’s disaster management agency (Conred).
