Search for interim chief of Renfrewshire Health and Social Care Partnership underway
The process to appoint an interim chief officer of Renfrewshire Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) is under way after it was confirmed the present incumbent would be leaving.
Christine Laverty, who has been in charge for more than three years, will take up the same role at Edinburgh HSCP in March after the completion of her notice period.
Elected members were informed of her forthcoming departure in December and arrangements are now progressing to recruit her successor. Ms Laverty told the integration joint board (IJB), the body responsible for oversight of the HSCP, on Friday: "As you know, I am leaving Renfrewshire and my last day will be February 28.

"The recruitment for the interim chief officer is currently under way and I'm hoping that there will be a handover period before I go. I would just like to thank the IJB for all of the support that you've given me over the last few years and I really wish you well going forward."
An update on the process was included in a report to the board and explained interim arrangements would be confirmed in the coming weeks. The paper said: "In December 2024, Renfrewshire’s current chief officer Christine Laverty was offered and accepted the role of chief officer for Edinburgh Health and Social Care Partnership following a recruitment process.
"Christine will take up this position in early March 2025 following completion of her notice period. The chief executives of the IJB's partner organisations NHSGGC and Renfrewshire Council are now progressing arrangements to recruit a new chief officer for Renfrewshire.
"Reflecting the expected timelines for this process, interim chief officer arrangements will be required and will be confirmed in coming weeks. Further updates will be provided to IJB members as they become available during this period."
Ms Laverty was appointed chief officer in April 2022, having carried out the job on an interim basis since June 2021. She was also previously the HSCP's head of mental health, addiction and learning disability services. She has worked in health and social care for more than 30 years and has held a number of key management roles since 2002.
Councillor Lisa-Marie Hughes, a member of the board, said: "You came in at a time when we were having quite significant issues with some of the things we were doing and turned things around and I think that should be noted.
"You've done a power of work in moving things forward so I hope you take that experience with you to Edinburgh and can use it."
