The search is on for Newcastle's next karaoke superstar in city centre contest
If you think your skills are worthy of a stage and your singing talents need to be shared with the public, it's time to gab a microphone and take part in a major karaoke competition that's starting in Newcastle later this month. And there's a big change for this year, as duos can apply as well as soloists.
When you think of karaoke in Newcastle, many people will be left thinking of the same place and that place is Cosy Joes. The Groat Market bar has had various celebs flocking to its top floor over the last few years, from United players Kieran Trippier and Matt Targett to comedian and TV Jason Manford, as well as some of its singing stars featuring on Michael McIntyre's Big Show.
For a number of years now, Cosys has been hosting its own talent search, crowning some fantastic vocalists as its winners and now its annual karaoke competition is making a return for 2024, with heats beginning on Thursday, September 26.

There's some big cash to be won as well, as this year's winner will receive £500, with second place getting £300 and third getting £100. There will also be £100 up for grabs for the 'most entertaining' act in the final, with singers and duos invited to enter.
Four people will make it through from each heat and each of those singers will also get £25 to take home.
The heats will take place on September 26, October 3, October 10 and October 17, with the grand final happening on Thursday, October 24. To enter email Jenny@cosyjoes.co.uk.
Walk in entries are welcome from 9pm on heat dates but places cannot be guaranteed.
