Searches Continue, Death Toll Rises After Explosion at Havana Hotel

The number of confirmed deaths in a suspected gas explosion at a hotel in Havana, Cuba, was raised to 26 on Saturday, May 7, as authorities continued clear away rubble less than a day after the blast, local media reported.

According to Cubadebate, Havana city officials on Saturday said four children and a pregnant woman were among the dead, and of 45 people taken to hospital with injuries, nine were in critical condition.

This footage, released by the president’s office on Saturday, shows ongoing search-and-recovery efforts at the site.
