A seaside village has suffered a burst water main just as supplies were returning to normal. More than 40,000 homes and businesses in Conwy county have been without running water for days.

This followed a major burst at the Bryn Colwyd water treatment plant at Dolgarrog on Wednesday. That leak was finally repaired on Friday afternoon.

But it takes around 48 hours to get water to all the homes affected as Dwr Cymru refills the system. The village of Deganwy was starting to get water back this afternoon.

But this has now been hit by a localised burst. It is affecting Pentwyn Road/Park Drive areas of the village.

Dwr Cymru said they are aware of the burst and the fault had been located. Teams are now due on site to undertake a repair.

They hope to get services back this evening. There are also reported issues in the Eglwysbach area.

Water bosses had warned there could be issues with the system as they refilled the vast network that supplies the area.
