Downing Street has confirmed that Theresa May has sent a Christmas card to Donald Trump – despite the US President attacking her on Twitter last month.

Despite urging May to focus on ‘radical Islamic terror within the UK’, a Downing Street spokesperson has confirmed that Trump has received one of three Christmas card designs chosen by the Prime Minister.

The cards were designed by children in her Maidenhead constituency – and show a variety of hand-drawn scenes including 10 Downing Street and Father Christmas’ sleigh.

The design is a contrast to the card chosen by Jeremy Corbyn, with the Labour leader instead opting for a simpler card that features a traditional red background along with seasonal sillhouttes.

‘Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Peaceful 2018’, a message in Mr Corbyn’s card states.

Details of the Christmas card issued by Mr Trump were revealed last month, with the President wishing Americans a ‘Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year’ instead of the more generic greeting of ‘happy holidays’.

The card is signed by Mr Trump, the First Lady and their 11-year-old son Barron.
