Police investigating a Stoke-on-Trent street shooting have made a second attempted murder arrest. They arrested a 30-year-old man today.

It follows a shooting in the Winchester Avenue area of Bentilee on Tuesday, September 3. A 28-year-old man has already been arrested and bailed on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the same investigation.

A number of addresses across Bentilee and Bucknall have also been searched in a series of dawn raids.

Chief Superintendent Elliott Sharrard-Williams, from Staffordshire Police, said: “I can assure local communities that we will take robust and decisive action against those who think they can get away with using firearms in Staffordshire. A team of skilled detectives are working tirelessly to review the evidence we have to act against those responsible and to continue working proactively to take dangerous weapons off our streets.”

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses. They should call the police on 101, quoting incident number 420 of 3 September, or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
