Second British woman in three days found dead in Jamaica

A British photographer has been found dead in Jamaica, days after another UK national was murdered in the country.

Barbara Findley, 58, had been reported missing on 29 November. Her body was found at the roadside on Wednesday in Santa Cruz, St Elizabeth, The Times reported.

Ms Findley had lived in Jamaica since moving from Kennington, southeast London, five years ago.

The Foreign Office said it had been assisting her family following reports of her disappearance. She had reportedly told police about a threat to her life.

Her death comes days after the body of Karen Cleary-Brown, a Jamaican-born British citizen, was discovered buried on a building site on the Caribbean island.

The 44-year-old had been building her “dream home” in Jamaica, said her husband, Ken Brown. Her was found dead in the garden of her property in Boscobel area of St Mary on Monday, eight days after she went missing.

Her killer, a man who was working on the house, confessed to the murder and led detectives to her grave, said Mr Brown, who lived with his wife in Islington, north London.

“I am just devastated. She was building a dream home, we had planned this wonderful life together,” the 65-year-old added. “She was coming back in January and then we were going to go for a big holiday around Thailand – the future was rosy.”

In June, the burnt bodies of British couple Charlie and Gayle Anderson were found near to their home in Jamaica. The grandparents, who had moved to the Caribbean from Manchester, had also suffered head and neck wounds.
