Matt Richardson has put his time presenting The Xtra Factor to good use – studying the intricacies of Simon Cowell, judging by his latest stand-up.

The comedian and presenter is appearing for the first time at this year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival and we have an exclusive look at the material he's performing.

Watch the clip below:

Richardson begins his skit describing how he and his girlfriend were upgraded on a recent flight to the US.

"It's amazing, if you've never been upgraded, do it – try and get upgraded," he says. "Dress nicely, put Sir in front of your name - whatever it takes, because it's incredible.

"But the way they tell you you've been upgraded is the way Simon Cowell tells you you've gotten through on The X Factor.

"That moment where Simon Cowell goes: 'I'm sorry, that wasn't good... that's was grrrrrreat."

Yep, we've seen plenty of those in our time.

Richardson continues: "The check-in lady says, 'I'm very sorry but we've had to move your seats... to FIRST CLASS!'

"Dermot O'Leary interviews you, it's a very strange journey."

Richardson has been performing throughout August during the Fringe, ahead of his national tour starting on September 9.
