Cape Town – The friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man swings into cinemas this weekend.
In the latest instalment of the franchise Tom Holland slips on the Spider mask for a fresh new take on the story.
If superheroes aren’t your thing there's a drama about Winston Churchill, a Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler comedy and a movie about a super pig on Netflix.
Here are the 4 new releases:
Movie: Spider-Man: Homecoming
Our rating: 5/5
Short review: Marvel finally gives Spider-Man justice with an amazing lead that takes the best parts of high-school movies and gives us a hilarious yet insightful journey of a boy that's not only maturing into his superhero powers, but also into adulthood.
Our rating: 3/5
Short review: A stoic portrayal of the English Bulldog, Churchill can both bore and inspire with classical performances and very little story.
Movie: The House
Our rating: 1/5
Short review: Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler's luck run out with this mediocre comedy.
Movie: Okja (New on Netflix only)
Our rating: 4/5
Short review: Okja, a large pig-hippo hybrid, is big enough that it doesn’t need a silver screen to make the viewer fall in love with it.
