Selena Gomez has joined the billionaire club
It's official: Selena Gomez has achieved billionaire status and joined the ranks of her bestie - and business peers - Taylor Swift, Rihanna, and Kim Kardashian. However, despite being a mega-famous singer and actor - most recently starring in the super popular comedy-drama series, Only Murders in the Building - Selena hasn't made the bulk of her money through the entertainment industry. Rather, it's all to do with her mega-successful beauty brand, Rare Beauty.
According to Bloomberg Billionaires Index, where Selena has now officially been listed as a billionaire, her net worth is a cool $1.3bn.
Selena launched the company back in 2020, naming it after her album from the same year, Rare. Upon starting the business, she released a promotional video in which she shared her reasoning for the name, and what "being rare" is all about.
The actor said at the time: "Being rare is about being comfortable with yourself. I've stopped trying to be perfect. I just want to be me. I think Rare Beauty can be more than a beauty brand. I want us all to stop comparing ourselves to each other and just start embracing our own uniqueness."
Alongside Only Murders and her music career, Selena is set to take on the role of pop rock legend, Linda Rondstadt in a new biopic. Back in January, she teased the announcement on an Instagram story with a snap of her reading from Rondstadt's 2013 memoir, Simple Dreams.
She also recently told The Hollywood Reporter that - despite being so busy with her beauty brand - acting is still something she is incredibly passionate about, and that there's "so much" that she hasn't even "scratched the surface" of. "It's exciting to me," she enthused.
