Selfless passer-by saves man from entering River Mersey at night
A SELFLESS and quick-thinking member of the public has been praised by police for their actions.
It relates to an incident which occurred late last night, Friday, at Bridgefoot.
The passer-by grabbed hold of a man to prevent them from attempting to enter the River Mersey.
The kind-hearted individual then stayed with them until emergency services were able to arrive at the scene.
In a statement, Warrington Police said: “A male attempted to enter the River Mersey at Bridgefoot.
“Thanks to a quick-thinking member of pubic who kept hold of the male and fast intervention from our Cheshire Police special constabulary team and response officers, he is now getting the help he needs.”
