Halloween might be less than two weeks away but Christmas has already kicked off in London, with Selfridges unveiling its festive window display.

Earlier today, Oxford Street saw Selfridges become the first department store to reveal its Christmas windows more than two months to go until December 25.

This year’s yuletide display features a rock ‘n roll theme, inspired by the concept of Santa going on tour.

The windows, which feature collaborations with designers including J Brand and Halpern, have been a year in the making.

The iconic department store said a team of more than 100 staff had worked on non-stop rotated shifts over the last eight days to prepare the windows for the unveiling.

Selfridges stores in London, Birmingham and Manchester now feature more than 85,000 baubles, 200 Christmas trees and 65,000 pieces of paper confetti released from cannons as part of the “Selfridges Rocks Christmas” theme.

The unveiling comes not long after Selfridges launched its Christmas Shop in August.

Eleanor Gregory, Selfridges’ Christmas and home buyer, said: “We’ve been opening the doors to our Christmas shop during the summer for years now and have become a real destination for fans of Christmas and festive decorations within and outside the UK”.
