Is This Semi-Naked Street Art Portrait The Cheekiest Ever Tribute To The Queen?

It could be the cheekiest ever tribute to Queen Elizabeth II.

A semi-naked mural of the monarch has appeared on the side of a London pub.

But Pegasus, the street artist behind the controversial piece, insists it’s a compliment.

Her Majesty is seen naked from the waist down, save for a pair of purple high heels.

London-based Pegasus says he created it to celebrate the Queen becoming the longest ever reigning monarch tomorrow - on September 9.

“I painted her last Wed, way ahead of the big day,” he told Mashable.

“The designing process took a little over two weeks, two days to draw, a day to cut and three hours to paint,” he said.

“There is no denying the queen was stunning when she was young. I wanted to honour that beauty but also portray her in a way that she has never been seen before,” he added.

The Queen will mark 63 years on the throne on Wednesday.

The art work is painted on the side of the Winchester Bar in Angel, North London.

Response to the work has been positive, said Pegasus, although he admitted he’d expected some people to want him to be sent to the Tower of London.

Images of the piece were uploaded to his Facebook page last week.

“Just in time for the celebration! Congratulations on becoming the longest reigning Monarch in HISTORY Queen Elizabeth ii. ‪#‎StillMakingHistory,” they’re captioned.

They’ve since gone viral.

“As if her maj would wear purple stilettos duh!” wrote one commenter, while another added: “haha what a lovely bum.”
