Senator David Perdue Grabs Georgia Tech Student's Phone When Questioned on Voter Registration

Georgia Senator David Perdue reportedly snatched a phone from a student at the Georgia Institute of Technology when questioned on potential voter suppression on Saturday, October 13.

The Republican senator was visiting the campus to campaign for Georgia governor nominee Brian Kemp, who faced criticism this week following the release of an Associated Press investigation that found Kemp’s office was holding 53,000 voter registration applications. The AP reported the majority of the applications belonged to Black Americans.

When questioned about this issue by a student, Perdue grabbed the student’s phone before walking away, the Washington Post reported.

A voice asking questions can be heard in this video calling out, “He won’t answer why he’s endorsing a candidate who’s trying to purge people from voting on the basis of their race.” Credit: YDSA Georgia Tech via Storyful
